Driver convicted and sentenced to three years imprisonment and compensation of rupees five lacs awarded to victim family.
Court of JMIC Chandoosa convicted one Dilbar Parra to three years imprisonment besides directing him to pay compensation amount of rupees five lacs to the victim family.
The accused Dilbar Parra was driving one scorpio rashly and negligently and he was not only overspeeding his vehicle but also talking on phone while driving.
The accused then jumped out of the vehicle with passengers therein leaving the running vehicle driverless.
As a result of it the vehicle rolled down the hill at Shirpora village of Chandoosa resulting into on the spot death of one person and injuries to two of hus kids.
The court of JMIC Chandoosa presided over by Mr Fayaz Ahmad Qureshi after hearing the Prosecutor Mr Jaweed Ahmed and counsel for the accused found the accused guilty of Offence under Section 304-A ( death caused by rash and negligent act),279 ( Rash and negligent act)RPC and imposed the sentence.
The court also held that in case the accused/ convict failed to pay the compensation he shall undergo further period of simple imprisonment of six months.
The court penned down that the menace of road traffic occurrences are alarmingly at a high frequency and so punishment must be proportionate to the crime which must serve as deterrence for others.
